Opportunity
It’s natural to judge people on their talents/achievements but I think a big part of life is opportunity. Sometimes the greatest accomplishments of people are from chance encounters. They meet people, gain confidence, and run with it.
You can hear it everyday in interviews, ” What inspired you to do this?” and then the person would say, “Oh my mom had cancer so I founded this non profit.” Or even “Oh my friend gave me this job when I was 16 and I stayed in it ever since.” Sheer opportunity!
I am not excluding those who have worked hard for what they have but I am just showing another side to success. I mean there are probably tons of people who had opportunities but they just weren’t interested or couldn’t see the potential. So you must give some credit to those who were brave enough to go out on a limb. Or those who fought through shit to get to where they were.
Yeah and sometimes it is just convenient. A person such as the head of a company will see potential in you so then you just fall into a career and it makes you happy, not because it was your destiny but because you like your coworkers and life is sweet!
So sometimes I think life isn’t really a big grand, ” What is your passion??” but can be more about “What has come along your way that has made you content?”. Or did someone encourage you to do something that you later loved?” (For example if I made expo markers for a living and the people around me were so impressed with how well I made them then I might just make expo markers for the rest of my life because it gives me confidence and a sense of accomplishment.)
It’s just a comforting feeling knowing that a lot of the great discoveries/achievements were a product of opportunity not super human mega driven people. Success isn’t always what YOU make of it but what OTHERS make of it. lmfao
So yeah. Ride the waves of life, bitch.
